The Centre for Law & Society has forged a meaningful collaboration with DAKSH, a prominent non-profit organization based in Bangalore that is dedicated to Access to Justice and Judicial Reforms for the Justice Definitions Project.
Under the umbrella of this collaboration, GCLS and DAKSH have embarked on a mission with three interconnected objectives. Firstly, the project aims to contribute to the public domain by creating a research wiki focused on the justice system in India. This wiki will stand out as a unique platform, establishing connections between official literature, public databases, and ongoing research, particularly in the domains of courts, police, and prisons. Secondly, the project aims to shed light on the existing gaps, overlaps, and challenges prevalent in comprehending and utilizing publicly available data released by Indian justice institutions. Lastly, the project serves as a dynamic platform for contributors to engage in discussions, propose solutions, and reach consensus on actionable ways to improve the transparency, accessibility, and responsibility of official data creators in the justice sector.
The ongoing collaboration between GCLS and DAKSH represents a commitment to advancing knowledge, fostering transparency, and catalyzing positive change within the Indian justice system. The outcomes of this partnership are poised to contribute significantly to the understanding of judicial processes and inspire advancements in data accessibility and transparency.
